Think about the forms water can take: solid, liquid, gas. Water is the quintessence of adaptable. Associated with the flow of feelings, water's tidal forces pull us in ways and in directions mere ideas alone can't touch. Emotional appeal and engagement is tremendously powerful in all forms of design, and without that appeal, perfectly good technologies lack vitality. Simply put, water--and emotions--are creators of a vibrance that absolutely nothing else can replace.
